22nd.side
Programmed from the periphery - curation by Raageh Ali
About
22nd.Side is a film archive and screening project, run and created by me. The idea was to sift through films I've latched onto over the years, specific ones that’ve slipped through the cracks, and putting them in front of rep cinema audiences who want more out of the usual city programming.Cult classics, third cinema, low-budget discoveries and personal favourites make up the 22nd.Side oeuvre. The seasons I've mapped out follow interests that have stuck with me, ranging from astronomy and skateboarding, to sport and concert films.Screenings can take place in basements, rooftops, independent cinemas, community venues; usually nowhere flashy. Just a room, a projector, and a film worth watching…
